About the 2010 CARE Challenge

Join CARE Ambassador Eric Harr and the entire Eric Harr Social Media team on this "good-for-your-body-good-for-our-world" ride from London to Paris. Enjoy three days of riding through the idyllic countryside reveling in the tranquility of rural England to Portsmouth, where you will cross the channel by ferry to Ouistreham. The route then winds through peaceful vineyards and quaint villages, where you can sample the fine French cuisine before cycling to your final destination, Paris!

After cycling an impressive 234 miles in 3 days, you'll enjoy an unrivalled sense of achievement on reaching Paris. Knowing you’ve helped raise much-needed funds to support CARE's work overseas will make your lap of honour around the aptly-named Arc du Triomphe truly significant.

The minimum fundraising for this London to Paris cycling challenge is £1,300 ($2,500). Your £1,300 ($2,500) could provide 16 CARE community coordinators in Uganda with a bicycle, enabling them to reach remote villages where they run vital savings and loans groups. These groups enable poor communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

We will support you throughout your fundraising, training and general preparation, as well as on the event itself with experienced guides.

About CARE

CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. We place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.
